“We’re meant to go. We’re not meant to stay forever.”
Four words: Magical. Compelling. Surprising. Beautifully-written.
The main character is not the usual beauty or even desirable, she doesn’t have a sob backstory or even cares much about her appearance/what other think of her. She’s fiercely loyal, stubborn, clumsy and so hard-working. I can’t put into words how much I like Agnieszka!
Her male counterpart was just as enthralling. Mysterious, detached, logical, proud, objective, harsh and yet he was not the usual cruel guy. Whenever he said something that hurt Agnieszka it’s because it was the truth and he’d never lie about it.
Their relationship grows a lot trough the book, their trust might not come easily at the beginning but once they connect it’s unbreakable. Now, what I loved about their relationship is how it wasn’t insta-love, how it was a slow paced development, based on trust, even by the end of the book Sarkan couldn’t easily admit his feelings for her.
Warning tho, for those that might not be comfortable reading steamy scenes, it does have one that is a little bit more descriptive than the usual sugarcoating scenarios we usually read in the young adult genre.
And there’s Kasia, who is a badass and I absolutely love her, she’s so brave, yet delicate and feminine.
It was a book filled with twists and surprising turns. Beautiful writing and I’m glad I finally read this book, I don’t think I could have asked for a better example of a perfect fantasy book.
